Auspicious Tigers Welcome Spring - A Special Exhibition on the Year of the Tiger

2022/02/13 ~ 2022/07/17

Welcome to the Year of the Tiger! May we all find good fortune in our fight against the pandemic! To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, Beitou Museum has opened the “Auspicious Tigers Welcome Spring - A Special Exhibition on the Year of the Tiger”, which presents how grand and imposing images of tigers are extensively used in daily life as well as for religious purposes.
In addition to showcasing tiger hats and shoes collected in the museum, the exhibition has also invited collector Pi-yun Wu, who will share her remarkable collection of tiger paper cuttings, and renowned painter, Wen-yueh Tao, who will also share a valuable collection of tiger deities spanning generations across centuries to be presented in the same hall as the museum’s only wood-carved tiger deity. The exhibition will highlight the importance of tigers in folk beliefs and rituals, so that visitors may learn about the cultural significance of tigers and receive the blessings of the tiger deities. For the new year, we would like to wish everyone a magnificent Year of the Tiger as we work together to drive away the pandemic and enjoy a year of prosperity.
