The museum is a corridor of time, guiding us through the vast river of history. It is also a cultural stage, showcasing the diversity and brilliance of human civilization, and a sanctuary for the soul, offering peace in a noisy world. Housed in a century-old Japanese heritage building, the Beitou Museum has stood the test of time, and now celebrates 40 years of cultural preservation. Guided by wisdom, we learn from the past to set a future course focused on 'cultural preservation and innovation, ensuring that the cultural torch passed down through generations continues to burn brightly.
This special exhibition, “Unwavering:40 Years of the Beitou Museum”, highlights the historical journey and architectural beauty of the Beitou Museum through its exquisite collections. By showcasing life ritual artifacts—such as those related to birth and marriage—visitors can gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s traditional culture and its profound wisdom. The exhibition also brings to life the Beitou District’s rich past, recreating the charm of old Beitou through local historical artifacts. Furthermore, traditional clothing and patterns of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples are displayed, offering a glimpse into the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures. In addition to revisiting highlights from 40 years of exhibitions, the exhibition also explores the museum’s role in promoting and preserving Japanese tea ceremony culture, sharing the serenity and elegance of this timeless practice.
We warmly invite you to embark on this journey through time, to witness the evolution of the Beitou Museum from a Japanese inn to a heritage museum, and to explore the humanistic spirit and historical significance it embodies. As we look to the future, we aim to ensure the museum’s sustainable development, safeguarding Taiwan’s precious cultural heritage for generations to come.
